USA Rugby World Cup 2011 Squad

Travelling rugby professional Todd Clever will captain USA at the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Cleaver has played for the South African Super Rugby franchise, the Lions and Suntory in Japan.

A small number of the American players also have experience at international clubs, including Takudzwa Ngwenya, who plays for Biarritz in France and Saracens reps Chris Wyles and Hayden Smith in England.

Eddie O’Sullivan will coach the USA at the tournament. O’Sullivan is a vastly experienced Rugby World Cup coach, having coached Ireland at the 2003 and 2007 tournaments. The United States have attended every Rugby World Cup except 1995, but have never progressed out of the pool stages.

USA are in pool C along with Australia, Italy, Ireland and Russia. USA opens their 2011 Rugby World Cup campaign against Ireland on Sunday September 11 at 18.00 at New Plymouth Stadium in Taranaki.
