Finau Maka will captain the Tonga rugby team at the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. He will be able to provide his team with valuable insight when his team meets the France rugby team on Saturday October 1 in Wellington, as Maka plays number 8 for French club Toulouse.

Plenty of the Tonga squad have first hand experience of playing in New Zealand also, with familiar faces Viliami Ma’afu, Alisona Taumalolo, Soane Tonga’uiha, Taniela Moa and Fetu’u Vainikolo to name just a few with extensive NZ experience.

Isitolo Maka is the current Tonga rugby team coach.

Tonga are in pool A along with hosts New Zealand, France, Japan and Canada. Tonga have the privilege of playing the opening game along with New Zealand of the 2011 Rugby World Cup. That game and the opening ceremony is at Eden Park on Friday September the 9th.
