The Australian Rugby Union team have demolished a second-string South African Springbok team. Pushing aside their humiliating defeat against the Samoans a week earlier, the Wallabies have opened the 2011 Tri Nations with a resounding bonus point win.

In front of a crowd of nearly 53,000 at ANZ Stadium the Wallabies sent an ominous sign to the rest of the rugby world in Rugby World Cup year. Their backline clicked, particularly the all star halves pairing of Will Genia and Quade Cooper and the backline of Digby Ioane, Kurtley Beale and James O’Connor.

Australia and South Africa have announced their teams to contest the first test of the 2011 Tri-Nations at ANZ Stadium in Sydney on Saturday. The Wallaby team that dramatically lost to Samoa this weekend has been overhauled, including the dropping of Wallaby-stalwart Matt Giteau.

Meanwhile, South Africa, who have sensationally left 21 of their top players at home have named 4 new caps in their side for Saturday. Werner Kruger, Dean Greyling and Ashley Johnson are set to make their test debuts, with scrumhalf Charl McLeod coming off the bench.

As usual, the the Mandela Challenge Plate…

All Black coaches Graham Henry, Steve Hansen and Wayne Smith have named their thirty man squad for the 2011 Tri Nations against the Australian Wallabies and the South African Springboks. However, they have named an additional four players to remain with the squad as injury cover.

Israel Dagg, Hosea Gear, Isaia Toeava and Tony Woodcock remain under injury clouds, so Ben Smith, Cory Jane, Sitiveni Sivivatu and Wyatt Crockett have gained temporary reprieves and a chance to push for selection.

The features of the squad are Colin Slade as the much anticipated back up to Dan Carter…

Peter de Villiers, Springbok coach, has named a controversial Springbok team for the 2011 Tri Nations. De Villiers has omitted 21 ‘injured’ players to begin the away leg of the tournament. Six players will look to make their test debut, Elton Jantjies, Charl McLeod, Ashley Johnson Coenie Oosthuizen, Werner Kruger and Dean Greyling.

World Cup winner CJ van der Linde and uncapped lock Gerhard Mostert from the Sharks will also be added to the team.

John Smit continues his record breaking tenure as captain of the Springboks in 2011.

Wallabies coach Robbie Deans has named a forty man squad to contest the 2011 Tri Nations against the New Zealand All Blacks and the South African Springboks.

In recognition of the Super Rugby winning season the Wallaby squad contains 15 Reds players.
