New Zealand will use their final Pool A match this weekend as a chance to give number-eight Kieran Read his first taste of action at this World Cup. The loose-forward has been out of action since last month, where he picked up an ankle injury against Australia, narrowly securing his place in Graham Henry’s squad. Kieran Read will miss all of New Zealand’s World Cup pool games because of a torn ligament in his left ankle, the All Blacks been confirmed.

Read limped off during his side’s 25-20 Tri Nations defeat against Australia on Saturday that handed the Wallabies their first Tri Nations crown in ten years.

The number eight will now miss the All Blacks Group A games against Tonga, Japan, France and Canada, but should be in line to wear the New Zealand Rugby Shirt in the knockout stages, which get underway in October.

The All Blacks have set both an intimidating lead in the 2011 Tri-Nations as well as underlined Eden Park’s status as a seemingly impenetrable fortress ahead of the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

All Blacks Team named to Play Wallabies at Eden Park

There have been seven changes to the All Black side that destroyed the Springboks at Eden Park last week. The forwards, particularly the front row have a significantly different look. Keven Mealamu, Owen Franks, Brad Thorn and Kieran Read all return to make their first start of 2011. After a grueling Super Rugby tournament, those players have been rested to ready themselves for the big year ahead. All Blacks and Fiji named for Earthquake Fundraiser

The All Blacks and the Fiji team have named their sides to play in the Christchurch earthquake fundraiser and Carisbrook on Friday. The test will draw the curtain down on Carisbrook’s storied history as a test venue. Future matches will be played in Dunedin’s groundbreaking new covered stadium.

The All Blacks team features debutante Jarrad Hoeata and the return of Ali Williams in the locking positions. Ali Williams has fought three years of injury to make his return to the team. He last played for the All Blacks in 2008.
