All Blacks and Fiji named for Earthquake Fundraiser

The All Blacks and the Fiji team have named their sides to play in the Christchurch earthquake fundraiser and Carisbrook on Friday. The test will draw the curtain down on Carisbrook’s storied history as a test venue. Future matches will be played in Dunedin’s groundbreaking new covered stadium.

The All Blacks team features debutante Jarrad Hoeata and the return of Ali Williams in the locking positions. Ali Williams has fought three years of injury to make his return to the team. He last played for the All Blacks in 2008.

South Africa’s Springboks take on the Barbarians at Twickenham Stadium, London on Saturday the 4th of December 2010 at 14:30 local time. It is the last match of the Northern tours by Southern Hemisphere teams. The All Blacks, Wallabies, Argentina, Samoa and Fiji all finished their seasons last weekend. However, many of them have representation in the Barbarians team. The Barbarians will be coached by South African Nick Mallet.

The final week rugby union internationals for 2010 ended with a clean sweep by Tri-Nations teams over their Northern opponents. Australia walloped France, South Africa beat England, and New Zealand secured their fourth ever grand slam with victory over Wales.

Other Southern Hemisphere sides did not fare as well, with Italy beating Fiji, Scotland narrowly defeating Samoa and Ireland punishing Argentina. The Pacific Island teams of Fiji and Samoa may take some solace from how close they came, but unfortunately it was the story of their tours as they were unable to get an elusive…

The Welsh and New Zealand teams have been named for the rugby union international at Millennium Stadium Test on the 27th of November, 2010.
