Springboks Team to Play All Blacks at Port Elizabeth

The Springboks have named their team to face All Blacks at Port Elizabeth for their second 2011 Tri-Nations test
The Springboks have made five changes to the starting fifteen that lost to the Wallabies at Durban last week. Key changes include captain and hooker John Smit and first five Butch James dropping to the bench. Their places are taken by Bismarck du Plessis and Morne Steyn respectively. John Smit was expected to miss the match through an elbow injury sustained last weekend. The promising Patrick Lambie replaces Frans Steyn at fullback due to injury.

Willem Alberts and Gurthro Steenkamp have also been named to start, replacing Danie Rossouw and Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira.

Should the Springboks lose against the All Blacks they will have gone through the 2011 Tri Nations tournament without a victory. Fortunately they will be up against a weakened All Black team who left many of their star players in New Zealand. This will be South Africa’s last game before the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand next month.

Springboks Team to Play All Blacks:

Patrick Lambie, JP Pietersen, Jaque Fourie, Jean de Villiers, Bryan Habana, Morne Steyn, Fourie du Preez; Pierre Spies, Willem Alberts, Heinrich Brussow, Victor Matfield (captain), Bakkies Botha, Jannie du Plessis, Bismarck du Plessis, Gurthro Steenkamp.
Reserves: John Smit, Tendai Mtawarira, CJ van der Linde, Danie Rossouw, Ashley Johnson, Francois Hougaard, Butch James.
