South Africa defeats Fiji in 2011 USA Sevens Tournament in Las Vegas.
South Africa have defeated Fiji 24-14 in the USA Sevens in Las Vegas final to win their first IRB World Series tournament since April 2009.
South Africa and Fiji knocked out pre-tournament favourites and joint series leaders England and New Zealand in the semi finals. However, England and New Zealand retain their lead on the 2011 IRB Sevens World Series on 80 points each. Fiji and Samoa are next on 64, with South Africa coming fifth on 56.
With his 29 points at the USA Sevens, Ben Gollings past the landmark 2500 all time IRB Sevens points, extending his world record. He has nearly double the points of the nearest follower, Fiji Sevens legend Waisale Serevi on 1310 points.
The next leg of the IRB Sevens World Series is the show piece tournament, the Hong Kong Sevens. They are on the 25-27 March 2011 at Hong Kong Stadium.
