Russia have named their squad to play in their first ever Rugby World Cup. Vladislav Korshunov will Russia at the 2011 tournament in New Zealand. As well as captain Korshunov, there are a handful of players who play professionally in Europe, including Vasily Artemyev, Andrey Ostrikov, Viatcheslav Grachev and Konstantin Rachkov.
Nikolay Nerush will coach the Russia at the tournament. Dual international in rugby union and league, New Zealander Henry Paul is backs’ coach and should be able to provide some local knowledge.
Russia are in pool C along with Australia, USA, Ireland and Italy. Russia opens their 2011 Rugby World Cup campaign against the USA Russia v USA at New Plymouth Stadium Taranak on Thursday September 15 at 19.30. The USA will only have played their first game four days earlier, against Ireland.
