Rugby score predictions for the Quarter Finals of Super Rugby 2011
The Reds and Stormers have earned themselves a bye by finishing first and second on the table. The Crusaders and Blues have earned home quarter finals by finishing third and fourth. The Crusaders have a rematch of their historic game at Twickenham against the Sharks. It’s a long way from the bright lights of London though; this match will be at Trafalgar Park in Nelsen.
No one would wish the Crusaders’ season on anyone – a season in constant upheaval due to the devastating the devastating Christchurch earthquakes. If they can top the New Zealand conference despite living out of a suitcase the whole season and never playing a game at their traditional home of AMI Stadium, then anything is possible. However, the Waratahs and Sharks have some very serious challenges of their own coming into the quarter finals. The Sharks are facing a gruelling travel schedule and battling the Chile volcanic ash cloud.
Meanwhile, the Waratahs have been severely ravaged by injury. They have lost their entire first choice front row, their half back and have had to move their star fullback Kurtley Beale, one of the stars of the season, to fly half. Also, they have only beaten the Blues at Eden Park once in their history.
The smart money is on the Crusaders and Blues, but anything can happen in finals footy. Either way, whoever wins will either be travelling to Australia to face the Reds or to South Africa to face the Stormers next weekend.
