Georgia have named their squad to contest the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, with Irakli Abuseridze as captain. One of the head turners at the 2007 tournament, Georgia are known for their forward play and came within four points of upsetting Ireland that year. They also beat Namibia to complete a respectable World Cup effort.
Richard Dixon will coach the Georgia team at the 2011 Rugby World Cup. This will be there third tournament after playing in 2003 and 2007. Georgia are currently ranked 16th on the IRB World Rankings.
Georgia have been drawn in Pool B along with England, Argentina, Romania and Scotland. There will be sure to be some brutal forward battles in that pool. Argentina begin their campaign against England on September 10 at the new stadium in Dunedin.
