Williams had previously hinted that he would switch back to Rugby League after moving to Union back in 2008 while free bets placed suggested a move abroad also looked on the cards, but now the former Crusaders man has signed a one year deal to keep him in the country, with NZRU general manager Neil Sorensen delighted with his decision to stay put.

The Reds did not seem to have to work too hard against a Blues team that seemed to dominate the stats, but were unable to capitalise on their chances, while the Reds jumped on their own opportunities.
