After the fourth round of Super Rugby in 2011 only two teams remain undefeated, both South African. The Stormers beat fellow undefeated team the Highlanders and the Sharks narrowly defeated the heartbroken Rebels. The Lions finally broke their drought and lived up to the promise they’ve shown in the early rounds by defeating the Cheetahs. Six Nations Results Week One. England, Ireland and France Win.

England, Ireland and France have ground out wins over Wales, Italy and Scotland in the opening round of the 2011 Six Nations. While the favourites won each match, Italy and Scotland in particular made their opponents work much harder than was expected. Ireland were heavily favoured to beat Italy at Stadio Flaminio but required a Ronan O’Gara field goal to win the game.

Already the only player to win the award twice, Richie McCaw has now won the IRB Player of the Year award three times, including in two consecutive years. It comes a few weeks after McCaw became the most capped All Black of all time along side Mils Muliana, and in a year where he also took the record for most All Black captaincies.

Rugby Video: Jonah Lomu 1995 World Cup v England

I was watching Invictus last night, and it reminded me how awesome Jonah Lomu was for the All Blacks at the 1995 World Cup in South Africa. The above video shows his incredible game for the All Blacks versus English Rugby Team in the semi-final. In that game Jonah Lomu scored four tries, providing a showcase for his power, speed, swerve, and running lines. One particular signature world cup try features him bumping of two tackles and then trampling over Mike Catt while trying to regain his balance. Hard to believe he was only 20 years old.
