Ireland left to rue errors
There was a feeling of disappointment in the Irish camp after throwing away a winning position against France to draw 17-17 in Paris on Sunday.
Two-try winger Tommy Bowe gave his side an 11-point half-time lead but Les Bleus came storming back after the break and ultimately ended Ireland’s Six Nations hopes.
“To score two tries in Paris is a great achievement but nobody enjoys coming away with a draw. We showed good composure in the last ten minutes,” said Bowe.
“Our first-half display was outstanding but we were under a lot of pressure at the end and did well …
Super Rugby Results and Highlights Round Two 2012
Most of round two’s Super Rugby matches went to script over the weekend, particularly the Australia and South Africa local derbies. However, the Rebels and Western Force perhaps put up more of a fight than the bookmakers were expecting against the Waratahs and Reds respectively. In the end though, the final scores proved comfortable in both games, the dominant team in each game winning by fifteen points (Reds) and sixteen points (Waratahs). In South Africa the Stormers narrowly edged the Sharks in a predictably close game and the Bulls dominated the Cheetahs, clocking the first 50 point score in 2012.…
Ireland and France Teams Named for Rescheduled Six Nation Match
While the other Six Nations team enjoy their bye week, the Ireland and France rugby teams must prepare for their rescheduled round two Six Nations match this weekend. Both teams now face the difficult task of playing four Six Nations tests over four consecutive weekends.
Ireland have named an unchanged 22 from the one that thrashed Italy by thirty points in round two. Meanwhile, France have made two changes to the team that narrowly defeated Scotland at Murrayfield (see Six Nations Round Two Results). Julien Bonnaire comes into number six, so Louis Picamoles moves to the bench and Imanol …
Chiefs Limp into Match Against Blues
The Chiefs and Blues have named their teams for the opening round two match. Both teams were dealt narrow losses at homes last week, as well as some unfortunate injuries. However, no other team can boast the injury toll suffered by the Chiefs in a miserable second half against the Highlanders at Waikato Stadium last week.
Experienced former All Black halfback Brendan Leonard is out for ten weeks with a hamstring injury. Game breaking winger Leila Masaga suffered a nasty looking knee injury but fortunately is only out for two to three weeks. Props Ben Afeaki and Toby Smith are …
