Head-Coach Steve Hansen released his first All Blacks squad since assuming the top job this week, and while those selected were said to be part of the first ‘Training Squad’ of the year, there is much this squad says about the mind-set of Hansen and his coaching staff, and their vision for the future.
While there are plenty of recognizable faces in the 35 names read out today the side is very much Hansen’s own, and deviates in many ways from the sides put together by Graham Henry. Although battling Blues’ players Piri Weepu and Ali Williams have retained their…

FranceRugby

FranceRugby is governed by the French Rugby Federation, FFR Rugby. However, FranceRugby is more than just rugby union in France, it is the style, temperament, success and failure that has become synonymous with the beauty of French rugby. FranceRugby can be the famous ‘try from the end of the world’ that Jean-Luc Sadourny scored against the All Blacks, or FranceRugby can be a club team purposely putting the kick off out on the full so the two scrums can go at each other, or it can be the French team losing by 40 points to the All Blacks …

Rugby picks for the fourth round of the 2012 Six Nations tournament

Having already secured the triple crown, the Six Nations is there for the taking for Wales. They should easily dispatch Italy this round, which will lead them to a face-off with their most likely competition, the FranceRugby team, in the final round.
France has the unenviable task of defeating England and Wales in consecutive weekends in order to take the title.
Unless the unlikely happens and Scotland and Italy upset Ireland and Wales respectively, then the battle for the wooden spoon will come next weekend when Scotland and …

Wallabies coach Robbie Deans will have a new coaching team next year. His conditioning coach Peter Harding and Jim Williams his assistant coach have already left following the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Other team members Patricio Noriega and Phil Blake are also believed to be under threat.

It is unknown how many people will be in Deans’ coaching team next year. However, there is speculation that there will be two assistant coaches. The blue print for the new team is inspired by the successful All Black coaching team. In that situation the head coach Graham Henry had two assistant coaches …
